Lt. Col. James Gray
Lt. Col. James Gray is the commander of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 840, Texas State University-San Marcos. He has the dual responsibility of detachment commander and department chairman with the title of professor. Lt. Col. Gray is a former Marine and graduate of Abilene Christian University. He received his commission through Officer Training School in 1992. He attended Undergraduate Missile Training at Vandenberg AFB, Calif., where he was named a “Top Performer” and awarded his missile badge in the summer of 1992. His assignments include: F.W. Warren AFB, Wyo., as an Instructor Missile Combat Crew Commander; AFROTC Detachment 630, Kent, Ohio, as the Unit Admissions Officer and Commandant of Cadets; 2nd Space Launch Squadron, Vandenberg AFB, Calif., as an Instructor/Evaluator Air Force Launch Controller and Atlas Flight Commander; Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center, Cheyenne Mountain AFS, Colo., as a Missile Warning Crew Commander and Chief of the Evaluation Division; Headquarters Air Force Space Command, Peterson AFB, Colo., as the Chief, Space Warning and Surveillance Section in the Directorate of Requirements.
Lt. Col. Gray is a senior Space Operator with experience in myriad space systems including the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, Atlas IIAS Space Lift Vehicle, Missile Analysis and Reporting Warning System and the Space Defense Operations Computer System.
