To join the program and progress toward an Air Force commission, you must:
*Enroll full-time in an accredited college that hosts or has a cross-town agreement with an AFROTC detachment,
*Participate in both the Aerospace Studies classes and the leadership lab each semester,
*Be age 14 or older (minimum age for enlistment is 17; minimum age for commissioning is 18; maximum commissioning age is 35),
*Be of good moral character without serious or excessive civil involvements,
*Complete the in-processing checklist,
*Pass the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test,
*Pass a physical examination,
*Maintain height and weight standards,
*Pass physical fitness requirements,
*Successfully complete field training,
*Maintain required GPA standards (POC retention — 2.0 on 4.0 scale; scholarship retention — must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and be enrolled as a full-time student),
*Receive a "C-" or better in all Aerospace Studies courses and pass all leadership labs,
*Receive an allocation slot in the professional officer course, and
*Be a U.S. citizen before entry into the professional officer course.
Students who are any of the following would not be allowed AFROTC membership but still could enroll in Aerospace Studies classes:
*Conscientious objectors
*Present or former commissioned officers
*Officers of the Health Services and Mental Health Administration and members of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
*Individuals on active duty with any military service (enlisted/warrant officers of Reserve or National Guard may)
*Those who do not or cannot meet required standards of weight, appearance, decorum, discipline, and military performance
*Anyone removed from a previous officer training program
